I am a Performance Studies Practitioner specializing in the Black dance aesthetic. I began my life’s work as a dancer more than twenty years ago and I am currently a lecturer in both the Theatre and Dance and African American and African Studies departments at UC Davis. My research focuses on the cultural biases inherent in the development of dance as an academic discipline in the United States and its ongoing superficial inclusion of black dance histories and all marked dance histories.
