Dave, born in Toronto, Canada, received his music education at the Royal Conservatory of Music. He began putting his poems to music and this led to his migration to California to seek recognition as a songwriter. He played with several music acts in the Bay Area in the 1970s/1980s and composed scores for the theater. Following the muse of poetry and fiction writing, he went to San Francisco State University and earned Creative Writing (English) degrees (B.A. Summa Cum Laude,‘93, M.A. 1995). He
