I was born in Los Angeles and was raised in an intergenerational household. My grandmother, a reading specialist and ballet teacher, and my grandfather, a violinist and general polymath, my mother, aunts, and uncles, encouraged me to be deeply curious about the world and committed to following my curiosity with inquiry. My love of the world of books began long before my first job at age 14 in a small used book and record store. There I was instructed to spend as much time as I liked sitting and
