I fell in love with hemoglobin and biochemistry when I was a freshman at Rice University (Houston, TX), as I realized how the predictable principles of chemistry impacted biological function and disease. As a biochemistry grad student at UNC-Chapel Hill, I taught nursing students and tutored med students in the midst of doing research. Between my MS and PhD degrees at UNC, I worked in both industrial and medical research settings and understand their distinct priorities. Over the past 30+ yea
