In the late 1990s I aspired to be a community college teacher, tutoring history and botany, and I was part of a flagship program at Santa Barbara City College which prepared students to transfer to four year colleges who came from backgrounds (including adult re-entry and English language learners) which could make the transfer process more difficult.
