I am one of the fortunate ones; I knew from an early age that I wanted to be a teacher. After 15 years of teaching, I spent three summers receiving specialized training to help students who struggle with reading, math, phonics, spelling and handwriting. During my last seven years as a teacher, I taught in a program where we worked with students one-on-one in these areas.
