For me, literature and English studies offers a sense of community not found in other academic disciplines. Because of this community, I think having a great mentor is essential for a more full understanding of literature itself, as well as various disciplines of academic, formal, and creative writing. I have always helped friends and peers edit essays, understand novels, love poetry, and, in general, gain insight towards any aspect of the English language (including grammar!), and wish to broad
